RICHMOND, Va. -- Sophomore quarterback Taylor Heinicke (Atlanta, Ga.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week it was announced Monday by the conference office.

Heinicke accounted for 530 of Old Dominion's 723 total yards in a 57-23 win over Duquesne. The sophomore eclipsed personal and school game-highs with 492 passing yards and 41 completions while also helping the Monarchs equal a program mark for 57 points in a game. He ended the night with four touchdown passes and 38 rushing yards.

This is Heinicke's fourth CAA weekly award having won CAA Rookie of the Week three times in 2011 following the Monarchs' contests with UMass, James Madison, and Richmond.

The ODU Football Monarchs (1-0) have their first road contest of the 2012 campaign on Saturday, September 8th against Hampton at Armstrong Stadium. Kick-off is at 6 p.m.
