NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University announced jointly today that the football series between the two schools has been extended to include a home and home schedule from 2015 through the 2018 series.

The two schools will meet for the first time in 2013 when ODU travels to Norfolk State on Sept. 14, followed by the return visit of NSU on Sept. 13 at ODU. The contract extension adds four additional games to the series, beginning on Sept. 12, 2015 with a game at Norfolk State, and then home and home through 2018. The ODU-NSU series is as follows:

Sept. 14, 2013 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 13, 2014 - at ODU
Sept. 12, 2015 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 10, 2016 - at ODU
Sept. 9, 2017 - at Norfolk State
Sept. 8, 2018 - at ODU

Norfolk State Athletic Director Marty Miller:

"I am happy that we were able to finalize the arrangements to add Old Dominion University to our football schedule. I think that these football games will create a great deal of excitement for the student-athletes, coaches, fans and the entire community.

"This series could develop into one of the most exciting and competitive in all of college football. Our fans, especially the ones who remember the basketball games between the two schools in years past, are looking forward to the same drama and excitement that filled the arena during each of those games."

Old Dominion Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig:

"This series addresses a growing need to manage travel costs for away competition and schedule attractive, easy to access away games for our fans. We anticipate considerable local media and fan interest each year surrounding these football games."

ODU Head Football Coach Bobby Wilder:

"We are excited as a football program to extend our two year series with Norfolk State to six years. We have great respect for their program and the job they have done. As we could all see from the first half of their West Virginia game, they can compete with the best programs in the country. What is most exciting to me is the fact we are only four miles from each other, recruit the same high schools in the 757, and share the same media market. I am hopeful this will develop into a long time series that both schools can be proud of."

NSU Head Football Coach Pete Adrian:
