Greg Sampson Finishes 2nd at CAA Men's Golf Championship

SUFFOLK, VA -Greg Sampson (Warrenton, RI) finished second overall at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Sunday after Towson's Billy Wingerd shot a dramatic 35-foot birdie on the first playoff hole. Sampson shot a one-under-par 71 in the final round and shot a 213 (70-72-71) overall. After trailing second-round leader UNC-Wilmington by eight-strokes coming into the final round, ODU took a brief lead by the 10th hole, but the Seahawks used a strong back-nine to win the CAA Championship by nine strokes, earning the conference's automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament.
