ODU Takes sixth at Savannah Tournament

SAVANNAH, GA-- ODU freshman Neil Henderson (Berwick, Scotland) carded a 72 on the final round for a 54 hole score of 220 to tie for 11th at the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate tournament. Fellow Monarch newcomer Thomas Wilde (Berkshire, England)tied for 17th with a 223 and junior Eric Onesi (Bear,DE.) tied for 22nd at 225. As a team, ODU finished sixth at 897. Host school Georgia Southern won the even with an 865, one stroke better than Furman. Logan Blondell of Georgia Southern won the individual title in a playoff with Anthony ALoi of Furman. They both finished at 212. Henderson, who shot 74 and 74 in the first two rounds was the Monarchs best today with a 72. He finished just eight strokes off the leader. Eric Onesi was next with a 74 todayand Wilde shot a 75. Henderson was seventh in par 3 scoring at 3.08 and tied for seventh in total birdies at the tournament with 11. Jeffrey Long also had 11 birdies. Eric Onesi eagled a hole, while as a team ODU was fourth in par three scoring at 3.28 and fifth in par 4scoring at 4.23. ODU tied Francis Marion and Davidson with 158 pars, and tied Western Carolina with 37 birdies. ODU returns to action Oct. 27 and 28 when they host the 29th annual Seascape Collegiate in Kitty Hawk, NC.
