Long Tied For Third At Virginia State Open

MIDLOTHIAN, VA--Old Dominion University rising senior Jeffrey Long (Centreville, Va.) shot a 70 for the second straight day and is tied for third with a 36-hole score of 140 just three strokes behind the leaders at the State Open of Virginia. Long, who compiled a 73.3 stroke average and placed 11th at the CAA Championships this year Is the second highest amateur in the event. He is tied with Eric Cobb (Verona), Ted Brown (Richmond), Tony Good (Glenn Allen) and Jimmy Flippen (Danville) at 140. The tournament leaders are Chip Sullivan (Troutville) and amateur Roger Newsom (Virginia Beach), both at 137. The tournament is being held at the Independence Golf Course in Midlothian, VA.
