Roanoke, VA-- ODU incoming freshman Tim Ritter (Chantilly, VA.) shot 70 in the first round of the VSGA Junior Amateur.

He is currently eighth, six strokes behind Bryce Chalkley of Richmond who fired a 64. Ritter shot 35-35 on the day.

The Monarchs other incoming freshman John Dawson of nearby Hickory High School (Chesapeake, Va. )fired a 73 in the first round. Dawson shot 35-38 on the day.

The championship is being held at the par 71, 6,480 yard Roanoke Country Club.
