Murray Rudisill's team just went from conference favorite to middle-of-the-pack pick.

The Old Dominion golf coach couldn't be happier.

The men's golf team is one of five Monarch squads making an early move to Conference USA, allowing them to play for league titles and NCAA championship automatic berths in 2012-13. The teams - men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and women's rowing - would not have been eligible for titles and automatic bids in their final year in the Colonial Athletic Association.
