NORFOLK, VA--Senior midfielder Trevor Banks scored a goal in each half to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion to a 2-0 exhibition win over the Eagles of American University Wednesday night. Newcomers Tommy Webb (Aukland, New Zealand) and Haris Cekic (Ontario,Canada) added assists.

Seven minutes into the match Cecik sent a cross to Banks on the right side of the box and he pushed it in to give ODU a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Banks who was named pre-season CAA Co-Player of the Year today by the league coaches scored again when he took a pass from freshman Tommy Webb for the final 2-0 score.

ODU outshot the Eagles, 9-4 on the night, while All-CAA goalkeeper Evan Newton along with sophomore Brennan Kirkpatrick shared the shutout.

ODU returns to action Saturday night when the travel to Charlottesville to take on Virginia in the final exhibition match for both teams. Game time is 7 p.m.
