RICHMOND, VA-- ODU sophomore Chris Harmon's (Downingtown, PA. ) penalty kick with 23 minutes left in the match lifted the Monarchs to a 1-0 victory over Coastal Carolina Saturday night in the first round of the VCU Soccer Classic. ODU will play Florida Gulf Coast Monday at 12 noon at Sports Backers Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Harmon was fouled in the box which led to the penalty kick. ODU is now 1-0 on the season, Coastal Carolina drops to 0-1.

ODU dominated the match, outshooting Coastal, 12-2 as senior goldkeeper Evan Newton picked up the shutout along with one save. ODU also had seven corners to Coastal Carolina's two.
