GREENSBORO, NC--Old Dominion (0-2-1) and Elon (0-1-1) fought to a double-overtime 0-0 tie in the first round of the UNC Greensboro Soccer Classic Friday night.

The Monarchs outshot the Phoenix, 9-7 in shots on goal led by Nane Joseph (Yaounde, Cameroon), Roberto Squeglia ( Schenectady, NY.) and Dylan Montambo (Chesapeake, Va. with two each.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brennan Kirkpatrick (Shreveport, LA.) picked up the shutout and had five saves on the night. Clint Irwin had nine saves for Elon.

ODU will play tournament host UNC Greensboro Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
