UCF Defeats Monarchs, 1-0 In Stihl Soccer Classic

NORFOLK, VA--Kevan George's second half goal lifted the Knights of UCF to a 1-0 victory over Old Dominion Sunday afternoon in the 33rd Stihl Soccer Classic. William and Mary tied Massachusetts, 2-2 in the earlier match. The Tribe wins the tournament with UCF taking second. With 34 minutes left in the match, George received a pass on a throw in from Cameron Cooksey and punched it in for the score. ODU outshot UCF, 15-6 overall and 5-2 in shots On goal. UCF's goalkeeper Sean Johnson made five saves on the day, including two late In the match. Trevor Banks and Nane Joseph were named to the All-Tournament squad. In the other Stihl match William and Mary and UMass fought to a 2-2 double-overtime tie. Tournament MVP Nathaniel Baako of William and Mary tied the match with a little more than four minutes left in regulation. Baako also scored the Tribes first goal in the opening half. UMass goals were scored by Chris Vaccaro and Bryant Craft. Shots on goal were even at 14 a piece. Andrew McAdams of William and Mary had five saves on the day.
