BARCELONA, Spain - The Monarchs toured Barcelona on Monday and Tuesday. They visited La Sagrada Familia (an unfinished church), Park Guell (which over looks the city of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea), the Olympic Village, the Cathedral and a Champion's League soccer match between FC Barcelona and AC Milan.

The Monarchs witnessed FC Barcelona become the first team in the history of the Championship League Playoffs to be down 2-0 after game one and come back to win the aggregate in game two. FC Barcelona put a 4-0 beatdown on Milan and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League Playoffs. The great Lionel Messi scored two first half goals for the 95,000 in attendance.

Joining the Monarchs on the trip are a couple of former players in Jimmy Tanner and Mark Woods. Both played for Dawson, and Tanner, who scored 20 goals in 1999 earned All-American honors and was the 1999 CAA Player of the Year. Mark Wood was a two-time All-CAA selection as well. Also on the trip, are the parents of Skylar Hagan and Geoffrey Hill

ODU practiced this morning. The friendly-match originally scheduled for today (Wednesday) has been postponed due to weather. So ODU will play a match on Thursday night and tentatively again on Friday against some local teams.
