The ODU Soccer Monarchs finally got on the pitch late Thursday night and defeated the UE Cornella U-20 pro-club team, 3-2 at the Cornella Estadi Municipal (Cornella Municipal Stadium) in Barcelona.

Cornella grabbed the early 1-0 lead with a goal 25 minutes into the match and held that leave to halftime. In the second half, the Monarchs went to work and at the 52:06 mark Tim Hopkinson pumped in the tying score with assists from Chris Harmon and Ryan Condotta.

Two minutes later, Condotta stole a pass, fed Ivan Militar who hit Geoffrey Hill to put the Monarchs up, 2-1. UE Cornella tied the match at 2-2 at the 60 minute mark, but with 15 seconds left in regulation, Chris Harmon hit Militar for the game winner in front of the box. Sean Stowe played 60 minutes in goal, while Conner Miller finished out the contest.

There will be no match on Friday. The Monarchs will work out again at the Barcelona training center, do some more sightseeing and return home Saturday.
