NORFOLK, VA-- David Horst has been named by the Norfolk Sports Club as this year's recipient of the Tom Scott Award given to the top senior student athlete at ODU. Horst became ODU's first ever 1st round draft pick by the MLS. The award is named in honor of ODU's first athletic director Tom Scott.

Horst was presented the award on April 21st.

The 6-4, 200 pound defender was the first player ever named back-to-back CAA Defender of the Year. He became ODU's all-time leader in games played and started this season. He helped lead the Monarchs to 14 wins, the Colonial Athletic Association Championship and the second straight NCAA College Cup round of 16.

Horst was the 14th selection in the first round of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake on Jan. 18th.
