Kevon Harris ('05) Named To PDL Team of The Week
June 24, 2010
Tampa, Florida - United Soccer Leagues announced the PDL Team of the Week today, honoring PDL Piranhas midfielder and former ODU All-American Kevon Harris ('05) for his two-goal performance against Central Jersey on June 19 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Harris' first goal of the match was scored off a penalty kick when team mate Thomas Schmitt was fouled by Mike Wiltse just five minutes into the match. His second goal forged a last minute draw for the Piranhas when he received a pass from TJ Cyrus and blasted it into the back of the Spartan's net in the 90th minute of play. The Kingston, Jamaica native is a graduate of Old Dominion University. While at ODU, Harris was named College Soccer News First Team All-America, to the All-CAA First Team, to the VaSID First Team and the NSCAA/Adidas All-American Second Team that season. In addition, he was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week twice in 2004. He led the Monarchs in scoring with seven goals and five assists in 20 games and led Old Dominion to its third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2004. In 2003, he was named to the All-CAA First Team, the All-South Atlantic Second Team and to the VaSID All-State Second Team, scoring four goals and five assists. Harris, who majored in mechanical engineering, was a member of Jamaica's U-20 World Cup team and was the Major League Rookie of the Year with his club in `98-99.
