NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Soccer Monarchs hit the road for two games in the UNCG Soccer Classic beginning Friday against Elon at 5 p.m. ODU will then play tournament host UNC Greensboro on Sunday at 2;30.

ODU is 4-0 against Elon with the last meeting in 2006. UNCG and ODU have metfour times with the Spartans leading the series, 3-1. ODU defeated UNCG in the 2006 Stihl Soccer Classic. UNCG's head coach Michael Parker was Alan Dawson's collegiate head coach at Lock Haven.

The Monarchs lost to two nationally ranked teams last weekend in No. 7 SMU and No. 22 St. John's.

Leading the Monarchs is senior midfielder and pre-season All-American Trevor Banks along with midfielder Nane Joseph, CAA All-Rookie selection, sophomore T.J. Beaulieu, and All-CAA forward Ambane Emmanuel. The Monarchs lost the services of All-CAA goalkeeper Evan Newton who fractured a bone in his left elbow in an exhbition match against Virgina a couple of weeks ago.

ODU returns home for their first matches at the ODU Soccer Complex in the Stihl Soccer Classic. ODU will play UMass who reached the NCAA College Cup semi-finals last year on Friday night at 7 p.m., following the William and Mary-Central Florida match which starts at 4:30.

ODU will play Central Florida on Sunday at 2:30 with William and Mary taking on UMass at 12 noon.
