NORFOLK, VA. (Sept. 23) - Kian Brownlee's goal with 10:28 left in the match lifted the Flames of Liberty University to a 1-0 non conference victory over Old Dominion University on Sept. 23. The Monarchs fall to 2-3-1, while the Flames are 3-3 and have won three straight.

Brownlees goal came on an assist from Matt McCoskey, a header off a direct kick. The Monarchs outshot Liberty, 12-6 and had 14 corners to the Flames five. Liberty's goalkeeper Dean Short came up with seven saves, while the Monarchs keeper, Matt Landman (Beverly, Ma.) had three saves.

The Monarchs host nationally ranked North Carolina on Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. as part of a soccer doubleheader. The Lady Monarchs host ECU at 6 p.m.
