PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Old Dominion Monarchs (13-6-3) will play in a second round NCAA Tournament game for the sixth straight season on Wednesday night as they visit Brown University (15-1-). Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm in Providence. To advance in the tournament, the Monarchs won their first round matchup with the Providence Friars at home, 1-0. ODU is led offensively by senior midfielder A.J. Kulp with 16 points (4 goals, 8 assists) and junior midfielder Trevor Banks with 15 points (6 goals, 3 assists). Defensively, ODU leans on senior CAA Defender of the Year David Horst and sophomore goalkeeper Evan Newton.

Newton has notched 11 shutouts in 22 games this season and has allowed just 14 goals, good for a 0.60 goals against average. He currently boasts a streak over 250 minutes long of shutout soccer.

The Bears finished the regular season ranked number four in the country as Ivy League Champions. This is Brown's 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament and third straight. The Bears boast the Ivy League's player of the Year in Matt Britner and Rookie of the Year in goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand.

As a team, Brown averages nearly two goals a game while allowing under one per contest. They have defeated several nationally ranked programs this season, including a 1-0 win over the NCAA Tournament #1 seed, Boston College.

The winner of the ODU/Brown matchup will take on the winner of the #11 seed Virginia Tech/California game.
