Trevor Banks Invited to 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine

NORFOLK, Va. -- Major League Soccer announced the initial list of 65 college seniors from 45 Division I schools who have been invited to participate in the 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine. Senior Trevor Banks was invited and becomes the ninth Monarch to attend in the last six years. He is one of just three CAA players invited this season to the annual player combine, which will be held at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. January 9-13. The coaching and management staffs of all 15 MLS teams will be in attendane to scout talent at the 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine, which concludes two days before the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. Last season, David Horst, Yomby William and A.J. Kulp participated in the Combine; Horst and William were drafted days later. Banks was a team captain this year, scoring four goals and adding three assists on the year. He took a team-high 40 shots and was also integral on the defensive side of the ball. The senior was named a First Team All-CAA Midfielder for the second straight year and concluded his career with 20 career goals, 11 assists and 51 points, ranking him among the top in ODU history. Banks is joined at the Combine by just two other Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) players, in George Mason's Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe and James Madison's Nick Zimmerman. The 2009 adidas MLS Player Combine will separate all players into four teams and feature two games per day at Lockhard Stadium on Jan. 10, 11 and 13.
