Dec. 17, 2007

NORFOLK, Va. -- The two-time CAA Defender of the Year and senior co-captain for ODU, David Horst (Pine Grove, Pa.), earned All-American honors by College Soccer News. He was named to the second team by College Soccer News after earning his second consecutive first team All-Region honor by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA). Horst is ODU's 11th All-American.

Horst is Old Dominion's sixth All-American in five years. He is the first Monarch to be named to the College Soccer News All-American list since Brian Cvilikas was named to the second team in 2005.

Horst was named the first ever consecutive winner of the CAA Defender of the Year award in 2007 as he anchored an Old Dominion defense that posted 12 shutouts and a 0.63 goals against average. He helped lead ODU to its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Third Round and became the all-time leader in starts and games played as he was a part of the Monarchs most successful four years in program history.

The senior was named as one of 54 Division I athletes to be invited to the MLS Combine in early January. He will be joined by teammates Yomby William and A.J. Kulp.
