ODU Women 8th/Men 6th After Second Day at Swimming Championships

The Old Dominion swimming and diving teams have completed this first fulll day of competition at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships and the Monarchs are in sixth place with 79 points, while the Lady Monarchs hold eighth with 77 total points.

The defending champs, GMU women and UNCW men, currently lead the way with 236 and 232 points respectively. Four CAA athletes set NCAAA Standard B Qualifying times on the first day.

William & Mary senior Ruth Anne Miller claimed first in the women's 200-yard individual medley, setting a meet record with an NCAA Standard B time of 2:03.29. Towson freshmen Jen Irby set a new CAA mark and meet record in the women's 50-yard freestyle with her time of 23.14, which was also an NCAA Standard B mark.

On the men's side, George Mason senior Wes Ebanks (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles) captured the 200-yard individual medley with an NCAA Standard B mark time of 1:49.32, setting a new CAA and meet record. James Madison senior John McLaren claimed an NCAA Standard B time in winning the men's 50-yard freestyle (20.12). Drexel junior Anthony Perry also broke a CAA and meet record with his performance on the men's 1-meter diving platform, scoring 335.80.

Women's team standings after day two of the championships are George Mason 236, UNC Wilmington 163, Delaware 147, William & Mary 122, James Madison 113, Towson 104, Davidson 102, Old Dominion 77, and Drexel 64.

Men's team standings after day two are UNC Wilmington 232, George Mason 207, James Madison 207, Drexel 139, William & Mary 83, Old Dominion 79, Towson 77, Davidson 62, and Delaware 36.

The CAA Swimming & Diving Championships continue with a full slate of women's and men's action Friday, with trials beginning at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
