Men's Tennis Records First Dual Meet Win

NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team recorded its first win of the dual meet season defeating George Washington University 7-0 at the Princess Anne Country Club on Friday. All six singles players had straight set victories over the Colonials. Junior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at first singles over Matt Hane, while his doubles partner sophomore Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa) recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win at second singles. At third singles, junior Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania) was victorious, 6-4, 6-3, against Jake Jopling while senior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden) allowed Jason Sucoll to win just one set in a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles. Senior Salman Mohammed (Calcutta, India) used a 6-3, 7-6, match to record a win over Brett Warner at fifth singles and junior Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstad, Sweden), playing in the sixth position, posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jim Zugers. In doubles play, the fourth ranked duo of Csanadi and van der Merwe handed Matt Hane and Brett Warner an 8-3 defeat at first doubles. Milos and Binkowski used an 8-4 match to post a win at second doubles over Jopling and Treadoold, while Mohammed and Oskarsson allowed the tandem of Sucoll and Zugers only one set in an 8-1 win at third doubles. The men's tennis returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Richmond, VA to take part in the Virginia Commonwealth 4-1 Tournament. Match Summary Old Dominion 7, George Washington 0
