Norfolk, Va. - Ranked 34th in the country, the Sooners of Oklahoma defeated host Old Dominion 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center. The Monarchs managed just one doubles victory and two wins in singles play.

Taking on the No. 32 ranked Sooner doubles team of Andrei Daescu and Chavarria, ODU's duo of Rodrigo Souza and Tobias Fanselow nearly pulled off the upset at the No. 1 position before falling 9-8 (6). The Monarchs fell 8-4 in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles action the Monarchs picked up wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 position. Fanselow continued his strong play with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision over Sergey Audreyev at No. 3, while at No. 4 Souza won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 over Vlad Marinescu.

Oklahoma's Daescu came in ranked No. 21 in the country and he showed why, defeating Alex Seleznev 7-6 (3), 6-2.
