Norfolk, Va. - Rodrigo Souza and Eidy Igarashi pulled out three set victories in singles play to help the Monarchs of Old Dominion defeat visiting Pennsylvania 4-3 in men's tennis action on Sunday.

ODU earned the doubles point to begin the day with victories at No. 1 and No. 2.

In singles play, the Monarchs' Alex Seleznev got things started with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 1, but Pennsylvania countered with victories at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to take 3-2 lead with two matches still underway. However, after splitting the first two sets with Adam Schwartz at No. 4, Souza ran away with the final frame for a 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-0 decision. With the match knotted at 3-3, the contest came down to the No. 2 singles match where ODU's Eidy Igarashi gave the Monarchs the win with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Jo Lok.
