PRINCETON, NJ -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team fell to 4-3 on the year as they lost to the Ivy League's Princeton, 1-6, this afternoon. Junior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisora, Romania) picked up the lone Monarch point at No. 1 singles with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Trevor Smith.

Sophmore Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa), Adriano Mello (Loundrina, Brazil), and junior Niklas Oskarsson each pushed their matches to three sets at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles respectively. Van der Merwe was defeated by Josh Burman, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, while Oskarsson fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to the Tigers' Andrew Lieu. Mello dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision to Hans Plukas. At No. 3 singles, Calin Milos dropped his match, 6-2, 6-3 to Darius Craton and senior Salman Mohammed (Calcutta, India) lost to Daniel Friedman, 6-4, 6-4 at the fifth position to round out singles play.

Princeton captured the doubles point with an upset of fourth ranked Csanadi and van der Merwe at No.1 doubles and also defeating the tandem of Milos and senior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden). Mohammed and Oskarsson posted a 8-2 over Princeton's Lieu and Plukas at No. 3 doubles.

The men's team returns to action on Sunday as they take on another Ivy League opponent when they travel to UPenn.
