Men's Tennis Captures 4-0 Win Over UNC-Wilmington In Regular Season Home Finale

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team defeated UNC-Wilmington on Sunday, 4-0, in its final regular season home match. The victory improved the 69th-ranked Monarch squad to 12-11 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Monarchs captured the doubles point taking wins at No.1 and No. 3 doubles with both teams earning 8-2 victories. Izak van der Merwe and Juliano Cirimbelli teamed at No. 1 doubles to defeat Caio Riacentini and Alvaro Pentcado, while Henrique Cancado and Eidy Igarashi downed the Seahawks' Taylor Vaughn and Aaron Rassell. Old Dominion then picked up three more victories in singles which included Eidy Igarashi blanked Taylor Vaughn at No. 3 singles with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance. The Monarchs other singles victories came from Henrique Cancado, who let up just one game in his 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Alvaro Pentcado, and Adriano Mello with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Robbie Paul at No. 4 singles. The Monarchs end their regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to face N.C. State
