Newport News, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's tennis team had little trouble advancing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship, as the third-seeded Monarchs shutout sixth-seeded James Madison 4-0 Friday morning at the Huntington Park Tennis Center. The Monarchs will face No. 2 seed William & Mary in the semifinals tomorrow at 10 a.m.

The Monarchs secured the doubles point with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 and an 8-2 win at No. 2. In singles action ODU got straight set victories from Rodrigo Souza, Matt Fawcett and Yakov Diskin to provide the final 4-0 margin. Playing at No. 2 for just the second time this season, Souza defeated JMU's Jesse Tarr 6-2, 6-2 to improve his overall record to 26-10 on the year. At No. 4 Fawcett downed Brian Rubenstein 6-1, 6-4, while Diskin closed things out with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Carlin Campbell at No. 5.
