Men's Tennis Concludes Action at William and Mary Invite
Sept. 9, 2001 WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- Salman Mohammed (Calcutta, India) and Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstad, Sweden) and the tandems of sophomores Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania)/ Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania) and juniors Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden) /Mohammed each recorded victories in the final day of play at the William and Mary Invite.
Mohammed had perhaps the most successful day for the Monarchs, posting a victory in both Flight 3 singles and teaming with Binkowski for two wins at Flight 2 doubles. In singles action, Mohammed used three sets to finish off William and Mary's Jeff Kader, 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7). Along with Binkowski, the two defeated Richmond's Derek Schwandt/Dan Scrafford (8-5) and followed with a win over host insitution's Joe Brooks/Jeff Kader (9-8).
In other singles action, Oskarsson defeated the Tribe's Matt Davis in two sets, 6-3, 7-6 (4), in Flight 5, posting the other Monarch win.
Csanadi, Milos, and Binkowski, each fell in their singles match-ups.
The duo of Csanadi and Milos recorded another win for Old Dominion in doubles play, defeating the Spiders' David Donn/Tim Hadsel-Mares, 8-5, in Flight 1 action.
The Monarch men's tennis team will return to action this weekend when they host the Old Dominion Scholarship Tournament from Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16.
