NORFOLK, VA - Old Dominion junior Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa/Waterkloof) was selected as the CAA men's tennis Player of the Week in singles, while the William & Mary duo of junior Sean Kelleher (Forty Fort, Pa./New Braunfels (TX) and sophomore Stephen Ward (Douglaston, N.Y./Chaminade) were chosen as Players of the Week in doubles for the week of April 6.

Van der Merwe went 4-0 at number one singles last week as the Monarchs faced four nationally ranked opponents. The junior, who is ranked #18 in the nation, posted victories over #56 Jamie Cerretani of 39th-ranked Brown, 6-3, 6-1 and #14 Chad Harris of 20th-ranked Vanderbilt, 7-5, 6-4. He also beat Amanjot Singh of 54th-ranked Louisiana-Lafayette, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 and Kirk Jackson of 74th-ranked Middle Tennessee, 6-4, 6-2. For the season, van der Merwe is 26-7 overall and has won eight straight dual matches.
