TULSA, OK -- Junior Old Dominion tennis player Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa) had his NCAA run halted in the third round of competition at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa with a 6-4, 7-6, loss to #31 Chad Harris of Vanderbilt.

Van der Merwe, who will compete in the second round of doubles play later on Friday afternoon, ended his season with a 31-11 singles mark. Ranked 23rd in the country, van der Merwe had picked up victories over Adriano Biasella of Southern California in the first round and #35 Robert Searle of Rice in the second round.

Van der Merwe will team up with Monarch senior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) in the second round of the doubles portion of the tournament, taking on ninth ranked Simon Rae and Damien Spizzo from the University of Tennessee later on Friday afternoon.
