NORFOLK, VA -- Senior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) and junior Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa) were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Americans it was announced Friday afternoon.

Csanadi and van der Merwe reached their All-American doubles status after a brilliant run in the NCAA Tournament in which they advanced to the semifinals. The duo finished the year ranked 14th with a 14-6 overall doubles record, which also included appearances in the finals of the ITA National Indoor Championships and the UVA Fall Classic and the semifinals of the ITA All-American Championships.

Csanadi concluded his career at Old Dominion with a 103-46 career singles mark and a 79-50 doubles mark. He holds Old Dominion's all-time career singles win and ranks fourth in all-time career doubles victories.

Van der Merwe also earned All-America honors as a singles player. Ranked 20th in the final ITA Poll, he concluded his season with a 31-11 singles mark, which included a Round of 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 13 wins over ranked opponents.

To qualify for ITA All-America status, a singles player must have been a Top 16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, reached the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship, or finished in the Top 20 of the final ITA Rankings. To qualify as a doubles team, the squad must have been a Top Eight seed in the NCAA Doubles Championship, reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship, or finished in the Top 10 of the final ITA Rankings.

The Old Dominion men's tennis team finished the 2004 season with a 14-10 overall record reaching the finals of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tennis Tournament. The Monarchs were ranked 56th in the final ITA Men's Tennis Team Poll.
