NORFOLK, VA -- On Saturday, July 13th Old Dominion head coach Darryl Cummings, along with assistant coach John Hill,assisted Dennis van der Meer during two clinics held at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. Also assisting the clinic were former Monarch and Norfolk Yacht Head pro Rodrigo Laender, former Monarch Salman Mohammed, and Norfolk Yacht Tennis Director Tony Willingham. The clinic had over 70 participants.

Dennis Van der Meer is the Founder and President of the Van Der Meer Tennis University and the Professional Tennis Registry. Van Der Meer is recognized worldwide for his innovative teaching techniques. Tennis Magazine has awarded him the title of Teaching Pro of the Decade and he was designated the first National Master in Tennis by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sport. Van Der Meer has taught more people how to play tennis than anyone in the history of the game. In addition, he served as Billy Jean King's coach in the famous "Battle of the Sexes" match against Bobby Riggs.
