NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University men's tennis will start the Junior Monarch Tennis Club starting this season, head coach Aljosa Piric said.

"We are very committed to leaving a positive footprint in the Hampton Roads community. We are also very excited to start our "Junior Monarch Tennis Club" mentorship program right here on campus in a safe and healthy environment. This will be a great platform for our student-athletes to be role models for the kids in the community. They are all looking forward to it, and are ready to use this opportunity to help influence the future members of our club in a meaningful way."

The Junior Monarch Tennis Club will be just another way the program will reach out to the community.

The Junior Monarch Tennis Club will give young tennis players a chance of a lifetime. The club will allow members to take part in free clinics with the coaching staff and student-athletes, opportunities to learn about nutrition, tennis strategy, education and exercise and to serve as "ball boys" during select matches throughout the season.

The first "meet and hit" will be Sunday, Jan. 13 from 2-4 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
