Jon Sioredas begins his fourth season with the Monarchs as an assistant coach. Sioredas helped coach one of the best teams in Old Dominion history last year, which was ranked 16th in the country in the final dual meet rankings. The Blue and Silver posted a victory over nationally-ranked Hofstra to claim the regular season CAA title and had a top 20 finish in the NCAA Tournament with a national finalist. Sioredas returned to his hometown as an assistant coach to his former high school mentor Steve Martin. The former All-American lends his experience to the team's middle and upper weights. He has made a vast impact in the training room as well helping to recruit nationally-ranked athletes. His work ethic, high energy and experience have helped push Old Dominion Wrestling into the national spotlight. Sioredas is no stranger to success. After spending three years at Missouri, Sioredas jumped at the opportunity to wrestle for NCAA and World Champion Terry Brands at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. With only two years under the helm of Coach Brands, Sioredas moved from a Top 20 athlete to being ranked as high as second in the country. Sioredas was named TheMat.com's national wrestler of the week for defeating Oklahoma State's national champion Johny Hendricks, 5-3, and Boise State's Russell Brunson by fall in the second period. Sioredas was a two-time conference champion and finished his senior season with All-American status by taking fifth place at 165 pounds in the 2005 NCAA Division I Tournament. He also excelled in the class room, being named to the National Deans List. A 2000 Great Bridge High School graduate, Sioredas was a Virginia state champion, All-American and AAU National Champion. He amassed a 181-13 career record, becoming the fourth winningest wrestler in Virginia High School history. Sioredas serves as a featured clinician at camps and clinics across the country. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master's in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Sioredas resides in Chesapeake with his wife, Michele, and their two dogs, Chopper and Delilah.
