HAMPTON, VA -The Old Dominion wrestling team dropped to 1-2 for the season, as they dropped a second-round consolation match to Purdue Saturday morning, 37-7. The Boilermakers are the #5 seed in the tournament and ranked #20 nationally by InterMat. The only Monarch victorys were Dennis Whitby's (Lanoke Harbor, NJ) major decision (13-4) over Paul Sacquitne and Robby Gosnell's (Warrenton, VA) 5-3 decision over Bryce Markley in the 165 class. ODU is back in action next Sunday, January 18, hosting the Virginia State Intercollegiate Meet, featuring the Monarchs, George Mason, James Madison, Virginia, VMI and the Apprentice School.
