Final Stats

The Old Dominion wrestling team finished competition at the Va. Duals with a 20-19 loss to Cumberland (KY) on Saturday at the Hampton Coliseum.

The Monarchs lost five of the ten bouts, including two falls, dropping their dual record to 2-2 on the year.

Freshman Matt Ulrey (St. Mary's, MI) earned his first collegiate win and fall in the 165 match, tying the score at 13 all. Senior Ben Summerlin (Lynchburg, VA) took a tough 14-3 loss in his 174 pound class giving Cumberland a 17-3 advantage, a lead they would never relinquish.

Freshman Adam Wright (Bridgewater, VA) continued his winning ways with a 6-1 win at 184 pounds, but Greg Gill (Chesapeake, VA) lost his 197 pound match 6-3, putting ODU behind 20-16.

Junior heavyweight Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) needed at least a major decision to tie, but could only earn his 13th win of the season with a 6-3 decision, leaving the Monarchs one point shy.

Wright and Lorthridge won all three of their matches at the two day event, improving their team-best records to 13-3. Lorthridge also has a team-high six falls.

In the finals of Old Dominion's American College Division, SUNY-Brockport defeated Maryland 25-16 to win the division.

ODU will return to action this Friday when they host American in the Field House at 7:00 p.m.
