FAIRFAX, VA - The Old Dominion Wrestling Monarchs picked up a pair of conference wins this weekend as they beat Campbell 39-9 and George Mason 34-14 in dual competition. The Monarchs improve to 10-6-1 overall, 5-1-1 in the CAA.

In the Match against the Camels of Campbell, ODU jumped to an early 14-0 lead as Bryan LaShomb, Ryan Williams, and BJ Compton out wrestled their opponents. Willams pinned Trevour Smith at the 5:38 mark, and Compton recorded a 17-2 tech fall over Elliot Berger.

At 149, Steve Wiktorek pinned the Monarch's Jeff Becker narrowing the score 14-6 heading into the 157 pound match. From then on, ODU could not be stopped as Nick Pullano recorded a tech fall 16-0 over his opponent, Robby Gosnell and Bryan Lenhardt both won by forfeit, and David Mendoza took out his opponent by a 13-7 decision.

Senior Adam Wright picked up a 22-7 tech fall over Jason Cook at the 6:08 mark and John Dolida fell to Jeremiah Fennell by a close 7-3 decision. The final score showed ODU a decisive 39-9 victory

Old Dominion then went on to beat George Mason 34-14. Bryan LaShomb fell to Joe Coughlin 20-1, before Ryan Williams came in and beat GMU's Will Powars by a 7-2 decision. BJ Compton pinned Chris Cartella four minutes into the match, before Jeff Becker fell to Robert Henry.

ODU was down 11-9 entering the Nick Pullano's 157 pound bout. Pullano and Robby Gosnell both won by forfeit, giving Old Dominion 21-11 edge over the Patriots. Bryan Lenhardt beat Randy Oates by a 8-4 decision, David Mendoza then beat Ken Jackson by fall at 5:30, and Adam Wright majored Joel Caruso 20-7 giving ODU a commanding 34-11 lead. Wright picked up his 113th career win with that major decision. Heavyweight John Dolida fell to his opponent in overtime 6-4.

In other action, Campbell fell to George Mason 32-9. The Patriots won all but two matches, and recorded 3 major decisions and a tech fall.

The Monarchs are back in action Thursday, February 16, as they host VMI in their annual Alumni match and senior night. Match time is set for 7:00 pm. Thursday's match marks the Monarch's last home match in their 2005-06 campaign. Four senior wrestlers, Robby Gosnell, John Dolida, Adam Wright, and TJ Hansen will be honored at the event.
