Wrestling Knocks Off No. 25 Wisconsin, 19-12

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University wrestling earned their first win of the year, knocking off No. 23 Wisconsin 19-12 Friday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. ODU picked up its first win of the year and improved to 1-2 while the Badgers dropped to 1-1. Jerome Robinson and Scott Festejostarted the night on a strong note for ODU, as both notched 5-2 victories at 125, and 133, respectively. Robinson and Festejo each registered a pair of takedowns in their victories. Tyler Graff put Wisconsin on the board with an 8-4 wit at 141 over Justin LaValle. The Monarchs went right back in the win column as freshman Alexander Richardsondefeated Cole Schmitt 4-2 in sudden victory. After a 2-2 tie with both wrestlers earning points on escapes, Richardson took down Schmitt with 20 seconds left in the overtime to get the win and give ODU a 9-3 team lead. John Nicholson dominated for ODU at 157 pounds and rolled to a 14-4 major decision over Wisconsin's Alex Yde to push the ODU lead to 14-4. Fran Cousins picked up a 4-1 win for the Badgers at 165 but Billy Curling and Austin Coburnfollowed with 9-6 and 4-3 wins respectively, for the Monarchs to take a 19-6 lead. Wisconsin won the last two matches of the night, as Jackson Hein and Connor Medbery picked up victories for the Badgers, but it wasn't enough as ODU clinched the team victory after Coburn's win at 184. The Monarchs are back in action November 25, when they travel to Iowa State to take on the Cyclones at 2 p.m. ODU returns home on December 21 when they host American at 5 p.m. ODU 19 No. 25 Wisconsin 12
