The Old Dominion wrestling team took part in the Carolina Open on Saturday in Chapel Hill, NC. No team scores were recorded but the host Tar Heels took home titles in five of the ten weight classes.

The Monarchs were represented in each weight class by at least one wrestler. Junior Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) led ODU with a fourth place finish in the heavyweight division while senior Ben Summerlin (Lynchburg, VA) came in fifth at 174 pounds. Dennis Whitby (Lanoke Harbor (NJ), freshman Adam Wright (Bridgewater, NJ), and junior Greg Gill (Chesapeake, VA) also competed well for the Monarchs each winning multiple matches on the afternoon.

Other teams winning weight class titles include Cornell with three and UVA and Appalachian St. with one each.

ODU will now have three weeks off before they travel to the Universtiy of Delaware for the Beast of the East tournament on December 20th.
