NORFOLK, VA (January 14, 2002) - Junior heavyweight Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) and freshman 184 pounder Adam Wright (Bridgewater, VA) earned top honors in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) for the week ending January 12. Lorthridge and Hofstra's Chris Sketkowicz (184) shared the CAA Wrestler of the Week honors while Wright and Hofstra's Mike Patrovich (157) shared the conference Rookie of the Week award.

Lorthridge and Wright lead ODU with 13-3 records and are both coming off perfect 4-0 weeks as the Monarchs started their dual schedule. The team split their four duals last week, going 1-2 in Va. Duals action this past weekend. Lorthridge, who has a team-high six falls, is ranked second in the conference, while Wright is up to fourth in his weight class.

As a team Old Dominion is ranked seventh in the conference with 11 total points. Junior John Starkes (Chesapeake, VA) retain his sixth place ranking at 125 pounds with a 3-1 record, and senior Ben Summerlin (Lynchburg, VA) is fifth at 174 with a 10-2 mark.

The Monarchs will be home this Friday to host American in the Field House at 7:00 p.m. ODU is 23-4 lifetime against the Eagles, including a 30-15 win last year in Washington, D.C. The two squads have been competing against each other since 1959.
