NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion wrestling team is set to host their annual scholarship meet this Saturday, February 14, at the ODU Fieldhouse. ODU will face the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro and the Terrapins of the University of Maryland. At 12:00 PM, UNC-Greensboro and Maryland will wrestle, while the Monarchs face the Spartans at 2:00 PM and the Terrapins at 4:00 PM. Tickets for the event are $5, while students with a valid ID will get in for free.

The Monarchs come into the meet with a 4-10 overall record, 3-3 in Colonial Athletic Association action. ODU went 1-2 this past week, dropping close decisions to NC State (27-22) and VMI (21-20), while ending a five match skid against Campbell, winning 32-7. Adam Wright (Dayton, VA), the Monarchs starter in the 184 weight class, was named the CAA Co-Wrestler of the Week for the first week in February along with George Mason's Adrian Austin. Wright went undefeated last week, earning a 8-6 decision over the fourth-ranked CAA wrestler at 184, Campbell's Lantz Nixon. He also earned a major decision in the VMI dual against Corry Murray.

Maryland has a 2-7 record this season, dropping back-to-back duals February 7, losing to Duke 25-9 and Rutgers 30-3. ODU is 1-16-1 all-time against the Terrapins, last losing to them last season in College Park, MD, dropping a 27-8 decision. UNC-Greensboro is currently 4-5, after dropping a key Southern Conference match-up against Chattanooga 32-13 February 7. The Spartans mark the second Southern Conference school in two weeks the Monarchs have faced, after meeting with VMI last week. ODU holds a 4-0 all-time edge over UNC-Greensboro, last defeating them last season 23-17 in Greensboro, NC.
