STILLWATER, Okla. -- The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum in Stillwater, Oklahoma has announced its 2006 state winners of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence award and among the award winners is incoming ODU freshman wrestler Jessie Strawn.

This annual award is bestowed upon high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in wrestling success, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship and community service. The award, named in honor of Olympic and World Champion Dave Schultz, has recognized 528 wrestlers since its inception in 1996.

Schultz was inducted into the sport's Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Member in 1997.

Jess Strawn (184-197), a native of Holton, Kansas is a two-time Kansas State runner up and won the state title as a junior at 189 pounds. He has a career record of 113-4 with 90 of those decisions by falls.
