NORFOLK, VA. - Old Dominion University head wrestling coach Gray Simons announced today that he will have 8 recruits who will be attending Old Dominion University this fall, including three high school state champions, two from Virginia.

Chad Sichak (Johnstown, PA.) of Richland High School won the 140-pound state championship in 2002 and took fifth in 2001. He won a school record 127 career matches with 65 pins and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Adam Wright (Dayton, VA.)from Turner Ashby High School is the 171-pound Virginia State Champion. He was second in the state as a junior and fifth as a sophomore. Wright completed his career with a 114-32 record. He also was a multiple place winner in the state championships in the pole vault.

Robby Gosnell (Warrenton, VA.) from Faquier High School captured the 160-pound Virginia State Championship. This National Honor Society member compiled a 117-27 career record.

Jon Stovich (Latrobe, PA.) from Latrobe High School where he finished sixth in the state championships at 130-pounds. He won over 100 career matches.

John Dolida (Bridgewater, NJ.) from Raritan High School is a State qualifier at 189 pounds.

Matt Ulrey (Commerce, MI), is from Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep. Ulrey placed third in the Michigan State Championships at 184 pounds and fourth as a sophomore.

Tyler Jeffords (Fredericksburg, VA.) from Chancellor High School is a two-time State qualifier. He won the region championship this year and placed fifth at the state championships at 145 pounds as a junior. Jeffords recorded a school record of 120 career wins. Both of his parents are ODU graduates and his father Stephen wrestled for the Monarchs.

Travis Posey (Mardela Springs, MD.) from Mardela Springs High School is the Maryland District Champion and placed fifth in the Regional Tournament. He will wrestle at 149-pounds.

"We are very pleased with this new class," said ODU head coach and wrestling Hall of Famer Gray Simons. " I think we have strengthened ourselves in each weight class."
