Wrestling Releases 2012-13 Schedule
Oct. 5, 2012
NORFOLK, Va. – Head coach Steve Martin announced the Old Dominion University wrestling schedule for the 2012-13 season on Friday. The Monarchs host six home matches against Wisconsin, American, Binghamton, Rider, George Mason, and Virginia Tech. "We have a very competitive and challenging schedule for 2012-13," said Martin. "The schedule we put together will allow our guys the opportunity to gain national exposure and put themselves into a position to earn a seed at the NCAA Championships. In the month of November alone, we wrestle Big Ten and Big 12 programs in Purdue, Wisconsin, and Iowa State along with the new fellow MAC addition, Missouri. We also will be returning to the Midlands this year for the first time since 2008 which will allow us to see additional Big 10 teams around the turn of the new year." Old Dominion travels to Clarion, Pa. for the Knight Point Open on Nov. 4 to begin the season. ODU then competes in a pair duals on Nov. 10 in West Lafayette, Ind. when they face Purdue and the defending Big 12 champions and future fellow MAC member Missouri. The Monarchs will host Wisconsin in their home opener on Nov. 16. Old Dominion returns to the road for three straight events, first hitting Iowa State on Nov. 25 and then the Nittany Lion Open on Dec. 25. The Monarchs will head to the Cleveland State Open on Dec. 15. On Dec. 21, ODU returns home for a match against American before traveling to the Midlands on Dec. 29 and 30. The 33rd edition of the Virginia Duals will kick off on Jan. 11. The CAA Duals will take place on Jan. 19 in Fairfax, Va. Old Dominion hosts two consecutive home matches on Jan. 25 and 27 against Binghamton and Rider, respectively. The Monarchs will visit Central Michigan on Feb. 3 and Virginia on Feb. 10. The Monarchs wrap up their home schedule against George Mason on Feb. 14 and Virginia Tech for senior night on Feb. 22.
