Wrestling Finishes Keydet Invitational
Nov. 11, 2001 Lexington, VA-The Old Dominion wrestling squad sent several freshman to the 2001 Keydet Invitational on Sunday and came away with some impressive results. Local products John Adams (Chesapeake, VA) and John Starkes (Chesapeake, VA) led the way for the Monarchs, who opened their season at VMI for the second straight season. Adams finished as the runner-up at 165, falling to VMI's Shannon Meehan 11-6. Starkes took third at 125, beating teammate Chris Buckner (Chesapeake, VA) 5-1 in the consolation bracket. Also faring well were Casey Todd (Monroe, NY) and Mike Yetter (Stroudsburg, PA), who finished fourth in their respective weight classes. Todd fell to Ryan Tripp of UNC-Greensboro in the third-place match and Yetter surrendered the bronze on a forfeit to Duke's Mark Thompson. Old Dominion will open their home schedule this Saturday, when they host the ODU Invitational.
