TOWSON, Md. -- The No. 13/14 Old Dominion women's basketball team made it 16 victories in-a-row with a 73-61 victory over the Towson Tigers Sunday afternoon at the Towson Center. The Lady Monarchs, who improve to 22-3 overall and 13-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action, saw senior Megan Pym (Newfield, N.Y.) collect her third double-double of the season and of her career with a team-leading 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Old Dominion held a 39-24 halftime lead and managed to hold off a second half surge by the Tigers. A 16-point Lady Monarch advantage with 17:53 remaining in the game was cut to six as the Tigers outscored Old Dominion 15-5 over the following five minutes. The traditional three-point play by Pym and a bucket by senior T.J. Jordan (Portsmouth, Va.) following a miss off a one-and-one for the Tigers returned a double figure lead back to the Lady Monarchs, 54-43, with 9:29 left in the game.

Towson managed to cut its deficit to single figures only one more time. Following Jordan's jumper, a three by the Tigers' Holly Mahan brought Towson to within eight, 54-46, but a runaway lay-up by junior Jazzmin Walters (Norfolk, Va.) would give the Lady Monarchs a double figure edge they would never relinquish.

The Tigers did manage to outscore the Lady Monarchs in the second half, 37-34, but Old Dominion would lead by as many as 17 late in the game.

Pym, who went 5-of-5 from the free throw line and dished out three assists, finished the game as one of four Lady Monarchs in double figures. Freshman Jasmine Parker (Norfolk, Va.) and sophomore Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.) came off the Old Dominion bench to net 11 and 10 respectively. Parker shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Walters added in 12 points.

Towson (16-8, 8-5 CAA) had three of its five starters in double figures. The Tigers were led by Mahan with 15, along with a team-leading seven boards, while Shanae Baker-Brice added in 12 points and Jamell Beasely netted 10.

The No. 13/14 Old Dominion women's basketball team closes out a two-game road trip on Thursday, February 21st at 7:00 p.m.
