STANFORD, Calif. - Old Dominion University women's basketball fell to No. 5 Stanford 97-48 Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.

With the win Stanford moves to 3-0 on the season while the Lady Monarchs drop to 0-3.

Tia Lewis led the Lady Monarchs with 11 points and six rebounds and also dished out three assists.

Stanford started the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back, pushing the lead to 20 just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Stanford took a 56-24 lead into halftime.

The Lady Monarchs could never get the score back under 20, as Stanford built the lead up to 51 before the final deficit

Tia Lewis and Shakeva Richards got the Lady Monarchs going, as Richards got the first points of the game and Lewis connected on a layup and was fouled, making the foul shot to complete the three-point play and bring the score to 10-5 Stanford.

The Cardinal went on a 15-2 aided by two three-pointers from Lindy La Rocque and one from Toni Kokenis. Shakeeva Richards hit a short jumper to stop the run.

ODU scored six-straight to from JoNiquia Guilford, Shakeeva Richards and Tiffany Minor to make the score 31-15 midway through the first half. The Cardinal followed with 13-straight to push the lead to 29 points.

Mairi Buchan had nine points and seven boards for ODU while Tiffany Minor chipped in eight points and four rebounds.

Lindy La Rocque led five Stanford players with 15 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 14 and Chiney Ogqumike had 13 points. Joslyn Tinkle had 12 points and seven rebounds and Sarah Booth rounded out the five in double-figures with 10.

 

 

ODU returns to the Ted Constant Center on Sunday, Nov. 20 as they take on Richmond at 5 p.m.

Stanford as won 65-straight games at Maples Pavilion. The streak spans over four years ... Tiffany Minor recorded eight points and four rebounds, both career highs.
