RICHMOND, Va. – Freshman guard LaQuanda Younger has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Younger (Newport News, Va./Warwick) recorded career-highs in points in back-to-back games last week as she drilled eight three-pointers in two road contests at UNC Wilmington and Hofstra.

In Thursday’s win over the Seahawks, Younger was ODU’s leading scorer as she connected on four three-pointers in the first half to lead the team with 12 points. On Sunday, she drained four field goals from behind the arc and scored 14 total points. She was 8-for-11 (.727) from three-point range during the week, scoring 26 total points to go along with a pair of rebounds and a steal in 41 combined minutes of action.

Younger also captured CAA Rookie of the Week Honors on Dec. 10 after scoring a then season-best eight points off the bench in 19 minutes of action in ODU’s 59-33 victory over North Carolina Central on Dec. 7. Younger joins fellow freshman Galaisha Goodhope, who also won CAA Rookie of the Week back on Jan. 7 and senior Jackie Cook, who earned CAA Player of the Week on Nov. 19, as the honored Lady Monarchs this season by the league office.
