NORFOLK, Va. – Redshirt senior Mairi Buchan of the Old Dominion University women’s basketball team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team for the second consecutive year. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Stirlingshire, Scotland, Buchan holds a 3.93 grade point average majoring in biology (pre-med). She joins NC State’s Kody Burke and Marissa Kastanek, Duke’s Haley Peters and Tennessee’s Taber Spani on the District 3 first team.

Buchan is averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds this season to go along with 38 assists, 16 blocks and 11 steals. She set a career-high this season with 23 points against Dartmouth on Dec. 2.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Old Dominion remains at home on Sunday at the Ted Constant Convocation Center for a 3 p.m. tip against UNC Wilmington in a regionally televised game by Comcast SportsNet.
