NORFOLK, VA. -- The Lady Monarchs (18-4,11-0 Colonial Athletic Association) continue to stay perfect in CAA play as they dominated American (11-10, 4-7 CAA) Sunday afternoon 91-51 at the Old Dominion Fieldhouse. Both Okeisha Howard (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Kim Giddens (Painter, Va) led the Lady Monarchs with career highs of 19 points apiece.

Natalie Diaz (Needles, Calif.) came out hot, sparking the Lady Monarchs with nine points in the half. American made a run in the first half, cutting the score to 10 with six minutes to go but Old Dominion continued to attack the ball and pulled away forcing a 40-26 half time score.

Old Dominion went on a 20-0 run in the second half, holding the Eagles scoreless for seven minutes. The guards defensive play was crucial in keeping American guard Kate Miller scoreless. Jaye Marolla led American with 13 points and Danielle Johnston added 10. Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes, France) scored 18 for the Lady Monarchs.

The Old Dominion Lady Monarchs' next game is Friday the 18th as they take on William & Mary in Williamsburg. They will be back at the Fieldhouse on Sunday the 20th as they host East Carolina at 2:30 pm. The game will be televised live on Home Team Sports.
